Although Duquan isn't in this picture, these are his classmates. Duquan's class raised $620 over Christmas vacation to buy shoes for children in Africa. At $1 a pair, they were able to buy 620 pairs of shoes for the children. That's Jordan's (Duquan's classmate) dad and Jordan's sister is serving in the Peace Corp. The kids are pretty excited about their accomplishment.
Duquan has also been helping with raising money for a new library at the high school. He goes around the house and grabs all the loose change. I asked him one time what he was doing and he said, "We need to get money to build a new library for the big kids." Yeah, well, that library will be his to use before we know it. FYI: Some high school kids had set the library on fire and it was completely destroyed last year.
