Steve's Birthday and Halloween

Halloween was busy for the Ruff family. First we had Steve's birthday party. It was a blast! About 30-40 people came and we had a lot of fun. We had a costume contest where each contestant pitched in $5 and Steve won hands down. How could he not?

There were a lot of friends there, including one of our best friends, Amber Merriman! Every year she comes up with a great costume. One year she was a night stand; last year she was a calendar girl (wore a cardboard sign with calendars on it); and this year she was "Shady." I was a Renaissance chick.

Ed and Casey even came to down for the festivities. Great Costumes!

Halloween was a lot of fun. The kids looked great. Duquan was Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Carribean. Steve did most of his make-up and did a great job. I did the eyes. When we were waiting for the school bus, Duquan posed for a few pictures.

At one point, he's looking through the telescope and he says out of nowhere, "I see the bus, ARGH!"

Jaden was too cute in her costume. She was a Heffalump from Winnie the Pooh. And she loved her costume so much that she wore it the whole day.

When we went trick-or-treating, she would do this quick-step run and her belly and tail would wiggle back and forth. She was waddling down the street. It was sooo cute! At some houses we were able to get her to "shake your bootie."

Halloween was a lot of fun this year. And the kids had a great time. We have a great candy stash (which makes Mommy very happy to have some good chocolate on hand) and the kids have some dress-up clothes to play with now. Jaden has already started to play the pirate role. She grabs the telescope, puts it to her eye, and shouts, "ARGH, matey!" I have NO idea where she got it from.
